Satsuma Oranges

Like many other foods named after their origins or where they were discovered, Satsuma Oranges were named after the Satsuma Province in Kyūshū, Japan, after what is said that trees coming to the U.S. were misread.

Satsuma oranges are sweet and tender. They are available and best during the fall and winter months. They are the size of tangerines and perfect in salads, baked into cakes or cookies and other desserts.

Come by our market and don’t forget to take home some Satsuma oranges! Check out our Pinterest Japanese Produce board for some pretty amazing Satsuma orange recipes.
